Branding is about getting your prospects to see you as the best value money can buy. It is all about how you package and present yourself in the marketplace. Once you have yourself positioned, you must remain consistent with your message.

Branding - People will pay more for a brand because of its perceived value…that it is a better product or service than the competition, and for that, it is worth more. To do that, you need to establish and promote a key significant difference/benefit, and create the rationale behind why it is of more value than a competitor’s. The net result should be retaining loyal customers, attracting new ones, and being able to charge a premium.

Branding is more than a name or tag line. Complete branding exercises include researching what distinguishes your product, service or company, and then developing a name, logo, tag line, and message that are consistent across all marketing collateral.

A simple example of branding is this:

1). Put a plastic bag of Wheaties on a table, and in marker hand write "Wheaties - 89 cents.

2). Now put a box of Wheaties next to it with a sign that says, "Wheaties - Breakfast of Champions, Toasted Whole Wheat Flakes - $4.79".

3). Now ask people which one is better and which one they would buy.
